The Society of Mannequins hosted their 17th annual presentation luncheon honoring "The Ten Best Dressed African American Women of Chicago and the Woman of the Year" at the elegant Tuscany Falls Events and Banquet Hall in Mokena, IL. This event has often been referred to as the social event of the year. It is one of the most anticipated and glamorous affairs of the year. This year over 750 guests attended all dressed in style and elegance. The entertainment was excellent, the food was great, and the fashion show entitled, " Fashion...Sassy, Sexy, and in Between for 2017" was fun and impressive. Dr. Blondean Y. Davis added flair, style, and elegance to the runway. There were many other celebrities and dignitaries who attended including comedian, Damon Williams, Secretary of State, Jesse White, Clerk of the Circuit Court Dorothy Brown, Thornton Township Assessor, Cassandra Holbert as well as the Mannequins own Robin Robinson. The Society of Mannequins was formed in 2000 under the leadership of Lee L. Brown to continue and expand the vision of the parent organization, the Association of Mannequins. It has grown considerably under the leadership of Mrs. Brown and the Governing Board Members, Cecellia M.Smith, Janet Blake-Greene, Lucille Banks-Jefferson, Valerie Davis, Cheryl Marshall Washington, Dr. Blondean Y. Davis, Carolyn Griffin-Palmer, and DeWitts Thompson. Their mission is to provide scholarships to talented and needy African American students through the Emma Beck Scholarship Fund and the Continuing Scholars Program. They also recognize impeccably groomed African American women, who are exemplary role models and outstanding leaders in their communities.
